Highate 1st team V Enfield ~ Match Report by David Templeman
On the1st day off the season, Highgate 1st launched the season away v Enfield.
An unpromising start to the match with rain at 12:30 mean play had to wait until just before 2.00.
The game was reduced to 41 overs a side but rain continued to interrupted play. Highgate won the toss and put Enfield into bat but again the heavens opened again. The game restarted at 14:22 with 37 overs a side.
At the start Melville and Monk bowled a good line. In the Middle part of the Innings Enfield began to accelerate and at the end of 37 overs they finished on 237 for 8.
After Tea Highgate started their innings with Ali and Shane McNamara who put on 88 for the 1st wicket and set up a good platform for Highgate to aim for a good total. In the middle overs Enfield bowlers began to slow the run rate but Shane McNamara made a superb 104 before given out a LBW. That wicket began to put Enfield on the hunt. Zahid Ali Khan made a good 54 before being caught out but Eventually after 37 overs, Highgate finished on 223 for 8 and lost by 11 runs.
