Highgate U9 v North Middlesex U9

Oliver, Samir, Taran, Sanjay, Anton, Sam, Isaac, Tom, Ronit (captain) and Khiluv guided by U9 team manager Matt took on the North Middlesex U9 team in this 20-over home game.

Ronit called correctly at the toss and elected to field first. North Middlesex batted steadily without losing wickets. The bowling performance by our U9s was good, every player put in a solid effort sending down 2 overs each. Sanjay was the peak of the bowlers, he stuck to a tight line and length and gave away only 1 run in his 2 overs. 3 wickets fell towards the end of the innings. Ronit effected a run-out and Sam a stumping in the 17th over followed by Tom getting a North Middlesex batter clean bowled in the 19th. The final innings score was 322 for the loss of 3 wickets setting the winning target at 323.

The chase was managed very well. The opening pair of Samir and Oliver made a great start with an opening stand of 40 runs in their 4 overs. They were followed by Taran and Sanjay who kept the momentum going. The third batting pair of Anton and Sam were in top form scoring a whopping 52 in the four overs from the 9th to the 12th. The last 2 batting pairs of Isaac/Tom and Ronit/Khiluv batted solidly as well and the Highgate U9s finished with 360 runs for the loss of 3 wickets, winning by a convincing margin of 37!!

Congratulations to the winning team and looking forward to the next game (Sunday 1 July, with North London).
